TANQUERAY
Charles Tanqueray, born in 1810, did not follow his family's tradition of becoming clergymen but instead chose his own path. Together with his brother Edward, he started a distillery in North London in 1830, where Tanqueray immediately began experimenting with the perfect gin recipe. The Tanqueray family became pioneers in the gin industry, shaping the future of gin under his guidance.
The name "gin" comes from the Dutch word for juniper berry: genever. It is a clear, unaged spirit made by distilling a neutral grain base spirit with botanicals, and it gets its distinctive flavor from the juniper berries added during distillation. Its exquisite taste and aroma are derived from various herbs and spices, making every cocktail unique depending on the type of gin you use.
