The Légli Family and their Winemaking Tradition
The Légli family is renowned for its winemaking legacy, with grapes and wine playing a significant role in their lives. It’s no surprise that Géza’s father envisioned him continuing the family tradition of winemaking. However, Géza was never one to follow expectations, and he didn’t want anything "forced" upon him. Instead, he pursued the craft of making clay vessels. Over the years, however, no one pressured him to stay away from the family tradition, and when the pressure was gone, his curiosity about wine grew stronger.
Eventually, Géza made a conscious decision to start his own winemaking journey. He bought and planted vineyards, and for the next 4-5 years, he grew grapes for sale. These formative years were essential in providing him with invaluable knowledge, which helped him in establishing his future winery. In 2006, the time had come to produce his first wines from that year’s harvest. Géza’s philosophy is simple and logical: "Nature-oriented viticulture and natural, handcrafted winemaking."
