Gere A. Winery
One of the most well-known Hungarian wine producers from Villány. Gere Attila's great-grandmother lived in Villány, and her husband was the local cooper. On this family line, they can trace back seven generations of winemaking ancestors. Attila got involved in winemaking through his father-in-law in 1978, and after tasting his father-in-law’s traditionally crafted wines, he realized the immense potential in Villány’s red wines. The younger generation, Andrea and the younger Attila, are also involved in the business. The first bottled vintage was 1986, and by the early 90s, they had established a guesthouse, setting up the family-run hospitality business. Alongside the family estate, a joint venture with Austrian winemaker Franz Weninger was formed in 1992 in Villány. This is when the shared winery building was constructed, equipped with state-of-the-art technology at the time. The shared vineyard now spans 8 hectares, with many new plantings. In 1994, Attila Gere was awarded the title of "Winemaker of the Year" in recognition of his work. Over the years, the vineyard area has grown, and today, thanks to years of hard work, the winery now boasts 50 hectares in some of the best Villány vineyards, such as Kopár, Konkoly, and Ördögárok.
