Disznókő Vineyard and Winery
If you’re approaching the famous Tokaj wine region by car from Miskolc, you’ll know you’ve arrived when you spot a breathtaking vineyard on the left side of the road, with the charming Sárga Borház at its base and, just a few hundred meters above, a strikingly beautiful winery. This is the Disznókő Estate – the “Gateway to Tokaj.”
Disznókő is one of the most renowned and undeniably trend-setting wineries in the Tokaj region. The estate focuses on producing estate wines, meaning that each wine aims to express the unique character of the entire vineyard. On rare and exceptional occasions, they have also released single-vineyard selections – such as the Kapi 6 Puttonyos Aszú or Dorgó Furmint – though these remain exceptions that prove the rule in the winery’s philosophy.
From the very beginning, their second vintage (1993) produced a 6 Puttonyos Aszú that was later crowned the best sweet white wine in the world in 1999. Since then, they’ve continued to create increasingly outstanding wines. One of the greatest acknowledgments of their work came in 2005, when Disznókő was named “Winery of the Year” in Hungary.
There’s really no need to overstate it: Disznókő is simply one of the finest wineries in the Tokaj region.
