The Bányai - Unicum Barista Component coffee is a special variety sourced from the Bányai-Bacore Specialty Coffee Research farm in Costa Rica. It provides the distinctive coffee aroma that characterizes Unicum Barista as a "spiced coffee" drink.
The farm is located in the Lourdes Valley, above the town of Naranjo, in the northern part of Costa Rica's Central Valley region, at an altitude of 1450 meters above sea level.
Within the farm, there is a specific plot named after Unicum Barista, where Caturra and Catuai Arabica coffee bushes are cultivated. The coffee used for this blend is harvested from these bushes.
The coffee is processed using the traditional but labor-intensive "Honey" method. After harvesting, the fruits are peeled but not washed; instead, the beans, with their sugar and mineral-rich mucilage, are left on. They are then placed on drying beds and turned several times a day to ensure even drying.
Thanks to careful roasting, Unicum Barista coffee predominantly exhibits a rich dark chocolate flavor in the cup, with notes of dried fruits in its finish.
The coffee offers a wonderful experience when enjoyed as espresso. When flavored with milk, it delights with its velvety soft taste.
